Renowned Psychotherapist and author of A New Approach to Women and Therapy
Miriam Greenspan is a renowned psychotherapist, writer, and speaker whose pioneering book, A New Approach to Women and Therapy (McGraw-Hill, 1983) helped define the field of women’s psychology. It has been used as a textbook in programs of psychology, social work, counseling, and ministry in the United States, Canada, Europe, Israel, China, and Korea. Honored as a ‘feminist foremother’ in psychology, Ms. Greenspan has given hundreds of workshops and public talks on women’s psychology and therapy, and related subjects, throughout the U.S. and Europe.
Healing through the Dark Emotions: The Wisdom of Grief, Fear, and Despair (Shambhala, 2003), represents the last two decades of Ms. Greenspan’s work at the interface of psychology, ecology, and spirituality. Her work appeals to both a general and professional readership, and has been featured in various anthologies and magazines, including Self, Ms, New Woman, Psychology Today, Utne Reader, Body and Soul, Shambhala Sun, Tikkun, Lilith, and Psycotherapy Networker.
She has a private practice in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, where she lives with her husband and two daughters.
